Brief Answer:
Possible kidney stone

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The symptoms you describe sound suspicious for a kidney stone, which usually has severe pain and burning or blood with urination. Another possibility could be diverticulitis, which is inflammation of a pouch in the bowel, which often causes pain in the left lower abdomen. Both of these should have a CT scan done to confirm the diagnosis, so I would recommend you go to the ER to be seen for this, hopefully, they will be able to determine what the cause of the pain is from the CT scan and start him on treatment quickly.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions...
I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
Thanks.
