Question: Respected sir, There is a lump(about 3-4cm diameter) on my right buttock since very long( about 17-18 years). perhaps it is not a regular shaped (not fully round/not fully oval). It might has increased a little within the last 5 years and now it might be of 4.5-5 cm diameter. It pains a little only when it is pressed otherwise it doesn't create any problem .When I sit for some time then it is compressed in size and then it regains it's original size. Now a fear came to my mind that can it be anything serious like cancer ???? I did an ultrasound before about 1.5 years I am attaching the report. Please suggest sir whether I can be safe from cancer ???? As it is written on the report that each modality has its limitations so can the ultrasound report be wrong ???? Can cancer tumors be detected by ultrasound???? please help me sir. I am much worried for cancer fear.

Brief Answer:
Cancer is extremely rare and surgery is good option for permanent treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Hope you are not in much discomfort.
The condition you have is common and I have seen many patients with similar problems.
There is a clumping of vessels known as vascular malformation in the area and is slowly growing in size. It is usually from birth and increases in size in some patients. The possibility of a cancer is extremely rare. Surgery is a good option and permanent treatment.

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound scan has limitations

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in to us.

Every imaging has limitations and ultrasound cannot always detect cancer from non cancer vascular malformations.

Biopsy is the best way to confirm malignant nature of any lesion

Respected sir, thank you so much for your response. Perhaps I couldn't make you understand my question properly.

Brief Answer:
It is less likely but every investigation has limitations

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

It is less likely to diagnose a cancer and vascular malformation. However there are false positives and negatives for every imaging investigation. Doing a CT or MRI scan of the area will be more helpful in confirming the vascular malformation.

Regards and thanks.

Respected sir, as far as my knowledge goes CT MRI is done for those lumps which are found suspicious in ultrasound. Please be kind enough to let me know whether I am correct or not ?
Another thing sir is the above mentioned lump seems suspicious for cancer in the ultrasound report???? Or it might or might not be venous malfunction but it's definitely not a cancer ????
Sir, sorry to disturb you but Pl help me sir.

Brief Answer:
No mention of cancer in report

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

The findings in your ultrasound are indicating a vascular malformation. Ultrasound is a skilled investigation and your report is not mentioning cancer. Tubular structures showing flow on compression means there is slow moving blood.
