Possible Stress Fracture Or Tendonitis . I Am An Active

Question: Possible stress fracture or tendonitis.

I am an active person. Running, biking and weight lifting. Recently i have been increasing my mileage and training. During a run last night i ran awkwardly a bit and felt a weird weakness on my foot side. I was able to run through it. Today it would occasionally be pretty painful then would go away. It is somewhat vague. I felt it again while standing on a bike today. Cannot find an exact spot of the pain. What is this?

Hi there

Thanks for the query

If it's muscular dull pain that aggravates on activity and relieves on test then it can be due to make fatigue or claudication due to reduced blood supply.

Since you don't have bony pain it's less likely to be stress fracture.

However it is advisable to get an xray of the foot and Ankle to rule out any lesions. Maybe avoid excess exercise and give some rest to see if the condition improves if it's fatigue. If the problem recurs you may need further investigations.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Detailed Answer:
If this is pain that occurs towards the heel region especially early morning just after waking up and standing it could be plantar fasciitis.

If the pain is present on weight-bearing at any other time of the day and or any particular point over the bones of the feet it would need an x-ray to be done to rule out any lesions.

Then it's most likely plantar fascitis. Yes an xray can possibly rule out a fracture.
