Provide A Second Opinion About White Vaginal Discharge And Lower Back Pain After Treatment Post A Miscarriage
Question: Hello,
This is regarding pregnancy of my wife. She is 32. We had positive home pregnancy test yesterday. Last period date for 3rd Jun-18. She has 25 days menstrual cycle.
This is our first pregnancy. We had one 6 weeks miscarriage in Jan-16.
We have consulted our Gynac yesterday but I want to have second opinion about medicines & precautions. Yesterday blood sample has been taken for HCG test results are awaited today evening. As home pregnancy test was strongly positive (two dark lines on Preganews kit) as per doctor, doctor had given following medication,
1. Progesterone injection (one injection given yesterday). another one is next week (if needed).
2. MVita Folic acid tablet (daily one)
3. Sustained progesterone tablet 400 mg (daily one)
4. Naturogest progesterone gel (vaginal insertion). One kit daily.
5. She has been advised bed rest for two weeks.
6. Doctor has asked for Sonography on 8th Jul-18 to decide further steps.
Currently, she feels lower back pain (mild) if she stands for 10-15 mins for walks for 5-10 mins. White vaginal discharge (minor) once/twice a day.
Doctor is saying this is normal & advising maximum rest.
I want to have second opinion. Please guide me if medication & precautions prescribed are correct & enough.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed your prescription.
The progesterone supplementation in the form of tablets, gels and injection are given to support the pregnancy and make the uterine environment more favorable for pregnancy.
Mild lower back pain, vaginal secretions, lethargy, weakness and light headedness are common in early pregnancy, and there is nothing to worry.
Rest and avoiding prolonged working or standing will help.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Hello,
Thank you for your last answer. That was really helpful.
We got Beta HCG test results today. The test was done on 1st July-18 & first day of last menstrual cycle was 3rd Jun-18. The HCG level is 191.
Is this normal? What is typical results of HCG for this period?
Since I am travelling, we have planned next test on 6th Jul-18.
How much increase we can expect by 6th Jul-18 morning to be called as normal?

Brief Answer:
Normal beta hCG levels
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Since your gestational age is 4 weeks on July 1, the beta hCG levels of 191 is normal for this gestational age.
The levels for this gestational age is in the range of 5-526 mIU/ ml.
The beta hCG level double every 48 hours in normal pregnancy. So, on 6 the July, it should be more than 764mIU/ml.
