Question : Hi doctor, Please give me some advice regarding keto diet. my wife is interested to know if she can use this diet please note that she is a lactating mother thanks Syed

Hi,

Keto diet is used to lose weight.

Any type of dieting has to be done after stopping the breast feeding so that the child does not suffer.

It is normal to have more weight during lactation. The weight tends to get back to before-pregnancy weight, after the baby has weaned off the lactation. This process is hormonal. Breast feeding happens due to high female hormones and prolactin, etc. These hormones make the person weigh more than normal. Once breast feeding discontinues, the hormones normalize and weight becomes normal or near normal.
Till then no dieting please.
