Really Bad Knee, Bone To Bone. Had A Cortisone Shot

Question: Really bad knee, bone to bone. Had a cortisone shot last week ( one of many) from a different doctor, lasted 5 days and now pain is so intense I had to leave work early today. I'm scheduled for a replacement in December with my orthopedic surgeon . I can't possibly wait that long and have an appointment with my orthopedic doctor's assistant 6/3/2019 I was told that you should not have a cortisone shot 3 months before surgery or you risk infection. This hurts so bad I don't know how I can wait another 3 months. Please what is your opinion?.

Brief Answer:
The pain usually settles down in 2-3 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a cortisone shot, the pain sometimes increases due to increased inflammation but this settles down in 2-3 weeks and then you will be relieved. You need to do a hot compress and take an oral anti inflammatory pain killer like Aleve. You can consult your orthopedic assistant to rule out an infection in the knee. It is best to wait for at least three months to get your knee replaced.
I hope this answers your query.
