Reasons for low wbc with other levels are normal
Brief Answer:
We need to know a bit more detail
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Every thing depends upon how low the WBC is. Usually mild reduction is physiological, so nothing to worry. Viral infections also can lower WBC.
Please share some more details like the full blood count report, any symptoms, drugs or other coexistent illnesses. Then we can guide you better.
Regards

I went to the hospital back in February for a nasty stomach virus and a day later my WBC became really low so they kept me over night. They were like 1.5. At 3 they released me and my numbers continue to rise until I stopped having blood work done 2 weeks later at 3.6. They never could tell why my WBC became so low. Aa a stomach virus would typically make them rise they said. The ran multiple of tests including MRI, Ultrasound and CT. All were normal. So I'm guessing if a tumor or cancer were causing my pain now they would have seen something like that on these scans right? I told my OBGYN last week we wanted another baby but that was having some lower back pain that even went into my bum. After exam and normal pap smear she said might be a muscle strain but she didnt know. Do you think they are related? I have no blood just IBS sometimes due to no gallbladder and this new lower back/bum pain. But when the WBC came back low even tho my other levels were normal she suggested I see a hematologist. But I didnt think that was very low. Would Leukemia or Lupus effect my other numbers? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Stomach virus can explain low wbc
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The Viral infections are well known to cause low wbc. So that explains it. Tumor would have been picked up on scans. The back pain is also likely to be unrelated.
The fact that it improved with resolution of infection, supports this only.

So why the low numbers still at 3.7 6 months later. Is this common of mothers that are white? Also what reasons do the numbers typically run low without other numbers varying?

Brief Answer:
This is within normal limits
Detailed Answer:
The current count is only borderline low and is not of any concern. This doesn't signify any disease state.
I don't think there's any relation to motherhood or race. Sometimes one series of cells tend to run little less. There's nothing to worry really.
