Recently Have A Case Of Vaginal Burning Went To Urgent

Question: Recently have a case of vaginal burning went to urgent care quick test positive for uti culture came up negative followed up with gyno who believes burning due to yeast day after gyno visit came down with low grade fever around 99.6 head pressure tickle in throats and lethargy my question is are these symptoms suggestive of some sort of viral infection or could I really have a uti that was missed the burning seems to come after urination there is no increase in frequency or pain when urinating burning sensation is reducing just feel very grained and tired with occasional chills and low grade fever and annoying tickle in throats mild head pressure slight burning in eyes
Brief Answer:
This sounds like a viral infection and possibly STD
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
What you describe sounds like an upper respiratory tract viral infection, possibly unrelated to your urinary symptoms, that may be caused by an STD. I'd suggest a urethral swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia as well as culture and sensitivity analysis for further evaluation.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Hope this helps.

Have been to gyno unable to have a swab due to vaginismus currently undergoing pt for gyno believes it's either yeast or bv hence the vaginal antibiotics am in monogamous marriage for twenty years burning is improving how long does a viral infection last and my question is do you think the urine culture is incorrect
Brief Answer:
Usually a few days to weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Viral infections typically last for a few days to weeks. The urine culture may (like all diagnostic tests) be false negative, so it is a good idea to repeat it.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much for your reply figured the two were separate low grade fever has been gone for two days just dealing with fatigue and headache now still experiencing vaginal burning even after antibiotic dr called in script for Diflucan my question is can I take the Diflucan at the same time as metronidazole vaginal gel I have two more applications left until complete also can a yeast infection produce intense burning with no unusual discharge
Brief Answer:
Yes to both
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Yes to both; it is safe to take the gel and the antibiotics, and a yeast infection can easily cause the burning sensation without discharge.
Best wishes.
