Red Bumps All Over Body With Fever

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Mar 2024
Question: My 5 month old baby had fever for 3 days, ranging from 100 - 100.8 degrees, without any other symptoms. It subsided by giving him babygesic. After a 1 day gap, he has developed these red bumps all over his body since yesterday. Not sure if the fever and bumps are related. He is a little more cranky and sleepy, but there are no other symptoms. At this time, he doesn't have any fever. Please see the picture of the bumps and suggest what this could be, and what should be my next step.

Brief Answer:
Could be viral rash

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Based on the history and the photos you have sent it could be viral rash . It is better to rule out infections like dengue fever which can present with similar rash in infants . I would suggest you not to delay and take him to your Pediatric specialist or nearby children hospital . It is better to get her fully examined and blood tests may be needed especially like Platelet count and dengue serology .
Keep feeding frequently and ensure frequent ruination at least 6 to 8 times a day.
Regards
Dr Arun
