Severe OCD Is Not Letting Me Live With Parents. I

Question: Severe OCD is not letting me live with parents. I get extreme anxiety, doubt, etc if they touch anything in the house. I have to be constantly alert, panicky and monitor them.

They also get irritated.

I feel guilty if I ask them to live with my bro instead but if I dont, I will probably die of stress, depression and extreme fear.

What to do? I am also diabetic, hypertensive, probably have cardiac issues too. I tried counselling and medications, meditation. Nothing helped.

Living alone does help. What to do?

Brief Answer:
Please provide details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for using ask a doctor service

I can understand your concern. Its normal in OCD to have intrusive thoughts. Obsessive thoughts related to hygiene are very common. The guilt feelings if you ask parents to live with your brother are probably due to OCD only.

Could you please which medicines you are currently taking?

Please provide details for treatment taken in past too.

Thanks.

I take Luvox 100 mg since last 5 years. Started from 50 mg and went till 200 mg and then back to 100mg.
Tried psychiatrist and psychologist counselling.

Brief Answer:
Fluoxetine can be added.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for providing details

Even with good dose of Luvox your symptoms are persisting and intrusive thoughts are there. In such situation there is need to add some drug to augment the actions of Fluvoxamine. Clomipramine can be used and this should help you in controlling the thoughts.

Other option is to start Fluoxetine which has great efficacy and gradually escalate the doses. The dose of 60-80 mg should result in good control of symptoms.

Please talk with your doctor for this.

Thanks.
