Should I Be Concerned About A Large Puffy Bruise On My Wrist?

Question: I had a small bruise occur on my wrist earlier this week.... for no apparent reason. I have been sitting at my desk grading and just looked down at the hand and at the base of my thumb, above the wrist a larger puffy bruise has just appeared. Should I be concerned?

Bruises can appear because of many medical conditions. The most common cause is microtrauma. The injury causes tiny blood vessels to burst.
Other possible causes can be blood disorders.

I suggest you to do the following examinations:
- A complete blood count
- Platelets level
- Clotting time and bleeding time

Meanwhile, some advice that I can give to you are:
- Use vitamin K cream for local application
- Use cool compresses
- Elevate the area
