Should I Be Concerned About Blue Discoloration Of The Toes And Severe Neuropathy From Diabetes When A Sonogram Shows Normal Blood Flow?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
SFA had been nagging me, something that had never occurred before plus my toes where blue. I am diabetic and have very bad neuropathy. The technician said my blood flow was ok! But he could not see the metal stent, I must say I am a little perturbed by this. Should I be concerned? Because I must admit I have saw the stent on every other occasion I have had this proceedure.
Advice to undergo angiography
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The most concerning part of your history is the presence of blue toes. Doppler ultrasound may not always pick up re-stenosis of the stent, especially if it is the early stage of stenosis less than 60%. Even though, the doppler scan revealed adequate blood flow, the bluish discoloration of your toes is alarming for possible re-stenosis of the stent.
It would be best to undergo an angiographic evaluation to get a more clear picture about the patency of stent and blood flow. So, please be advised to follow up with your treating physician for further evaluation.
Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
