Question: Hi, My 5 month old daughter has a head circumference of 45 cms. It was 43 cms at 4 months. As per the growth chart, it is above 99th percentile. Should I be concerned? There are no other symptoms and she is reaching all her milestones. Her height is 68cms and weight is 7.9kgs. She is tall for her age. Genetically, my family has large heads but nothing abnormal

Brief Answer:
Could be normal. Need regular followup measurements

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I understand that your child's head circumference is above 99th percentile. But many times this can be normal if family members had large heads.
If the baby is otherwise normal, feeding well, gaining weight adequately, no need to worry.
But you still need to monitor the head circumference monthly. For next one month 1 cm increase would be normal and from 6 months to 1 year 0.5cm per month is normal.
If the increase is much higher, a basic ultrasound head may be needed to rule out issues like hydrocephalus.
I would also advice you to continue vitamin D drops till 1 year.
Keep following up with your pediatrician regularly during vaccine visits.
