Question: Height: 5’10
Weight: 176
Medications: None

Initial concern: 4 days of on and off fevering at 102, extreme chills
Diagnostic: Virus of some sort (negative on all swabs)
Main questions: Low white blood cell count, low platelets, presence of NRBC in blood

Hi all,
This past weekend I fevered on and off for 4 days, with my fever reaching 102/103 at night. All I took was Tylenol. I ultimately went to the ER as I got my period a week early (it was previously very regular) and I had a miscarriage 2 months ago and urgent care recommended I go to the ER to be safe. At the ER an ultrasound was done that identified a (probably normal) small cyst and my blood work was taken. Some highlights from the blood work are below:

White Blood Cell Count: 2.73
Platelet: 91
NRBC: 1
Red Blood Cell Count: 4.66
Hemoglobin: 14

I was negative for pregnancy. I wanted a second opinion as to whether I should be concerned over the WBC/platelets/NRBC as the ER doctor suggested they were the result of a possible virus.

Thank you,
doctor

Brief Answer:
Hello. Please repeat blood counts after 1 week period

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I have gome through the details. So such type of hectic fever with low platelets and white cells is usually seen in viral fevers and very less likely with bacterial infection. Viral infections usually settle on its own after 5-7 days. I will advise to repeat a blood count after 7 days of fever. If fever persists beyond 7 days, please go for a blood and urine culture tests as well. Tylenol. Is safe to use till then. Can be taken 4-6 times in a day.
Kind regards
