Brief Answer:
Perimenopausal stage

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
Your symptoms are suggestive of hormonal imbalance caused by perimenopausal stage, in which you are having irregular menstrual cycle in form of skipping periods, menorrhagia( excessive bleeding)or amenorrhea( absent menses)in between your period.
Are you having mood swing, sweating, anxiety?
Are you taking any medication?
Are you suffering with thyroid?
At what age your mother received menopause?
Hope to hear from you soon ,feel free to ask more information.
Good luck
Regards

Thanks for the reply. have been experiencing mood swings along with increased levels of anxiety. I do get periods especially at night where I feel like I'm over heating. My mother was menopausal at the age of 50. She also had five children I have not had any children. Not sure if that would affect the age of menstration. Is it typical to have some periods occur closer together while others further apart during this transition. My periods were completely normal up until five months ago.

Brief Answer:
Mainly due to estrogen deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Spotting in perimenopausal stage could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by decreasing level of estrogen.
For hot flashes avoid oily and spicy food ,drink a lot of water, light weight clothes and reduce weight.
You can use estrogen under supervision of a doctor because there are associated risk with this hormone.
