Question: Should I be worried about any side effects from occasional (once or twice/week) use of Pepto Bismol liquid as a type of mouth wash to sooth occasional sores on my tongue?

It is safe for rinsing mouth

Hello,

Pepto Bismol is being used externally as a mouth wash and is not getting ingested into stomach, then it will not cause any systemic (internal) side effects. Only side effect that can happen is of staining the teeth. To avoid this, you can rinse your mouth nicely with water after use.
