Should I Consult A Doctor About Painful Swelling In The Right Biceps For Over Two Weeks?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Jan 2022
Question: I have a swollen bicep and the bicep is bulging out to the right. This happened 2 weeks ago and although the swelling is less, it is still there. It began with a pain in my shoulder which went down into the bicep while I was doing curls.

Brief Answer:
Muscle tear likely.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

It seems that you have suffered a tear in the biceps muscle mass. Such tear takes 2-3 weeks to heal with proper rest. The swelling will gradually decrease and you need to avoid all the painful movements and specially all the overhead movements. Taking mild pain killer and doing a regular hot compress can help. You can also use an arm sling to provide rest to the arm. An MRI scan will help in detecting the extent of tear that you have.

I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.
