Should I Get A Rabies Vaccine If It Has Been

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Mar 2019
Question: Should I get a rabies vaccine if it has been 24 days since the dog(husky) bit me? There was no skin puncture and the dog was domesticated and vaccinated. The dog seemed fine until 6 days after the bite. As confirmed today, the dog is still doing fine.

Brief Answer:
Not needed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the ask a doctor service.

Sense that always doing well and does not seem ill, it can perhapsbe assumed that the dog is not rabid. In that case you can avoid getting the vaccine. Besides, if the dog were rabid, you would already have been infected by now and the vaccine could not help.

Regards
