Question: My blood test shows my D Dimer is 0.66. I am 74 years old. My weight is good with a BMI of 24. I exercise 4 to 5 days per week. Is this D Dimer level OK. Should I reduce it. How. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
probably OK

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The d-dimer "normal" level is below 0.5, but this applies mostly to young individuals. In older persons, it's usually higher. 0.66 is considered OK for a 74-year-old individual. Despite that, if there is a high suspicion of disease, the d-dimer level should not deter testing. You can't do anything to reduce it. If you're healthy, without any symptoms, then the d-dimer level should not be checked anyway.
