Brief Answer:
Surgery is not usually needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
You have a small fracture of the phalanx of great toe. The joint is not affected. This is likely to heal on its own in 3-5 weeks. Surgery is not usually needed.
I hope this answers your query.

Thank you Dr Tagal, the ER doctor pointed out a small bone on X-rays. In your experience does the bone heal naturally even in this case?

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Yes it should heal naturally.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
This is a small bone fragment which is undisplaced. This will heal naturally with proper immobilisation with POP cast or strapping or Air boot.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards.
