Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Looking at the information given by you, probably you are suffering from Allergic rhinitis(inflammation in the nasal cavity due to allergy).
Sudafed contains pseudoephedrine, which helps in
nasal decongestion. There is no need to switch over to phenylephrine. For your information, you should avoid taking Sudafed or any decongestant, if you are suffering from Hypertension.
Along with Sudafed, you may take following medications, which will help you relieve nasal blockage due to thick nasal secretions:
Antiallergic like Levocetrizine,
Nasal decongestant spray like Oxymetazoline,
Mucolytic like Ambroxol, which helps in breaking thick nasal mucus secretions.
Also do steam inhalation.
Drink lots of warm fluids.
Avoid dust and cold food.
Hope this answers your question.Take care.
