Brief Answer:
can occur with any severe head injury

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

A concussion can occur as a result from any severe head trauma ,if you were struck hard then it is possible that a concussion can occur.

According the AANS (American association of Neurological surgeons), the symptoms of a concussion are--(1)prolonged headache
(2)dizziness
(3)nausea and vomiting
(4)impaired balance
(5)confusion
(6)memory loss
(7)difficulty concentrating
(8)sensitivity to light
(9)ringing or abnormal noises in the ear
(10)altered smell or taste

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms then it is possible that you do have a concussion and that you need to be assessed by your doctor.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

I have had a slight headache, nothing severe but none of the other symptoms listed. the spot is really sore and when I bend over to pick stuff up it throbs a bit. is that normal? if I have no other symptoms does that mean a concussion is unlikely?

Brief Answer:
not likely at this stage

Detailed Answer:
HI

A slight headache and soreness would be expected to occur. If the headache worsens or any of the other symptoms develop then you should be seen but at this point, a concussion is not likely
