
Should A Pediatrician Be Consulted For Colic All Night And Vomiting Of Milk In An Infant?

Question: Hi,
My newborn baby is 1 month and 5 days, He is very crying in whole night. Sometime, he vomits out milk. we noticed it from last two days. Please suggest whether it is normal or what we need to follow. Whether we need consult with neonatal Dr. or Pediatrician Dr.
We are very worried abt such situation. Please suggest.

Hi...it is very common. Don't worry.
At this age - crying will induce opening up of new alveoli in the lungs and helps in lung development well.
The reason for crying could be because of gulping of air during feeding.
It is a very normal phenomenon.
Moreover they tend to cry like this until the circadian rhythm is established - as inside the mothers womb - everything is dark and some babies take 6 months to 18 months to get used to this day and night phenomenon.
