Question: Hello i have Qestion about Liver fasciola chronic phase - as it occur in biliary track !

How it is treated ?

It is said it is treated with ERCP

Patients with hepatic phase were treated with triclabendazole alone, and patients with biliary phase were treated with triclabendazole and had live Fasciola hepatica extracted from the bile ducts during ERCP.

Parasite removal at endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is effective in the biliary stage.

So it means that all chronic liver fasciola should treated with ERCP ?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Please go through detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Firstly, the NCBI reference given by you, I would like to say that most of these tests are basically controlled experiment, more of a sort of bookish things. Not every case required ERCP. The cases which do not respond to medication are termed as chronic and in only those case ERCP is done.

Please feel free to follow up. Thanks!
