Should I Be Concerned About Little Spotting After Hysterectomy?
Question: I stopped bleeding last Wed. After my hysterectomy on Monday. Say I spotted very lightly. I have been resting on couch ever since. Then just a few minutes ago went to the bathroom and there is a little bit of blood on my panties. Why and what should I do.
Brief Answer:
Sounds like a normal postop course thus far.
Detailed Answer:
The vaginal cuff, the top of the vagina is healing after the hysterectomy. You may have bloody discharge for the next several weeks. It should be light in quantity. It should be less than a menstrual period. There should be no foul odor, no significant pain, no associated fever, no burning with urination. If those types of symptoms occur then you need to call your doctor. Otherwise listen to your body. Rest when you're tired. Do not push yourself. it will take a little while to regain your usual stamina. Be good to yourself and your healing body. I hope you have a full recovery. Thus far it sounds uncomplicated.
