Should I Be Concerned About Small Red Itchy Bump On My C Section Scar?

Question: Hi,
I had three csections, the last 12/2008. I have a small red itchy bump on my scar. I placed a bandaid and polysporin. After removing the bandaid there was a spot of blood on it. There is slight pain discomfort but it is not major. What can be causing this? I recently moved and do not have an ob/gyn, can I see a dermatologist for this?
Brief Answer:
Keloid
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
The description given by you fits into the diagnosis of Keloid formation. Keloids are collagen tissue which develop over an old scar tissue. They tend to slowly grow in size and cause local pain and itching.
Here is what I suggest
1. You can approach a dermatologist for this issue
2. Do not scratch over the area as it might make it bigger
3. Local application of steroids is known to help
3. The best treatment would be to remove it surgically or with radiotherapy
I hope I was of help, if you have any further query please get back to me
I wish you good health
Regards

Keloid is not a medical emergency but it will require medical attention before it grows bigger. Please seek help from a dermatologist as soon as possible
