Should I Consult Urologist Immediately For Pain During Urination Post Hip Replacement?

Question: after hip replacement surgery. bladder not voiding until catheter inserted. catheter not removed one week later. catheter then removed. some pain voiding next morning some type of minimal discharge at penis opening now for a few days blood has appeared to scab over penis opening each night. blocks flow temporarily until pressure from urine pushes through. voiding the rest of the day is ok. I made appt. with urologist treating me for monday 3 days from now. Should I seek treatment earlier than that or just wait?
Brief Answer:
Keep up the positive attitude.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, I admire your boldness and positive attitude.
Majority number of people in your age group have an urinary problem, after the same surgery, with re-insertion of catheter.
This is due to prostate gland enlargement. You're already on Flomax for the same. You'll need to have a combination of Flomax with Dutasteride.
That will take care of your urinary problem.
You should check your blood creatinine, HbA1C, sodium and potassium, PSA, and have an ultrasound scan of the abdomen.
Wondering why a fistula was made, when you've not had any dialysis so far.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
Keep up the positive attitude.
