Should I Take Ovral Tablet For Functional Cyst In Right Ovary?

Question: hello good morning
i have a functional cyst in my right ovary .. my doctor gave me ovral l tablet for 21 days but the tablet is contraceptive pill ... i read the side affects... my queries is

i want to know why should i take contraceptive pill and it will affect me in future pregnancy or not

Thanks for the query to hcm,
For a functional cyst of less than 4cm size , oral low dose contraceptive pills for 3 months are the right choice of treatment and the cyst is to be followed up with monthly ultrasounds for decrease in size. This doesn't warrant laparoscopic removal at the moment.
So as long as you are on oc pills you cannot get pregnant but once the cyst decreases or vanishes and you stop the oc pills , fertility can be easily resumed from next pill free month.
