Should I Take Birth Control After Unprotected Sex With PCOS?
Question: hi doctor, i am 25 years old and i have been diagnosed with mild pcos (just the starting). so in that case can i take a birth control pill after an unprotected sex to reduce the chances of getting pregnant? and if not, what other measures should i take up?

1) Combined hormonal pill or regular pill can be taken from D1 of cycle for 21 days and 7 days gap after that. You will get REGULAR monthly period along with highest protection against unwanted pregnancy (more than 99%) after 1-month used. It is also effective to treat Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. Kindly, consult with your doctor for prescription.
2) Another thing, emergency contraceptive pill like I-PILL etc can be taken soon after unprotected sex or within first 72 hrs. It gives protection more than 95% when taken within 24 hrs. It is used in emergency only.
You will get a withdrawal bleeding within 5- 7 days and next period may be late or earlier due to hormonal imbalance. Irregular late cycle is the MAIN drawback of emergency pill which can more aggravate PCOS condition.

hi doctor, i wanted to enquire that if the withdrawal bleeding does not occur within 5-7 days does that mean the tablet has not worked properly????
