Should My Mom Go For Angiography?
Question: Hi,
My mom got a breath problem and admitted to ICU and got a treatment and Doctors told heart is functioning only 35% and asked us to take MRI scan to check the heart condition and then go for an angiogram. I take her to different hospitals and asked to go for angiogram directly to check any block.

Brief Answer:
She should have angiography directly
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through the reports. There is no need of MRI in her she should directly to go for angiography. There is strong possibility of blockages in her so she should have angiography followed by angioplasty or bypass surgery.
Her heart function is low, but not very low so avoid angiography, and infact angiography followed opening of blockages will help in preventing further decrease in heart function and may also improve function to some extent.
In treatment, you should also discuss with your doctor regarding starting ace inhibitors like ramipril along with current medicines, which will also help in preventing further drop in heart function.
So overall, she should go angiography without MRI, and medicines should be controlled regularly.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Sorry, autocorrect changed the sentence meaning
Detailed Answer:
Sorry, autocorrect created the confusion.
Her heart function is low, but not very low say 20 percent, where patients may not tolerate angiography. In her case it's 35 percent, so she should tolerate angiography and infact it's a necessary procedure in her. So angiography is recommended and should be done. All the best.
