Brief Answer:
Unilateral leg swelling

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

How long is the swelling? Do you see any redness or feel raised temperature over the leg? Crack in the skin of the leg? If yes there could be cellulitis.

Generally one sided swelling of the legs are due to local causes and rarely systemic. So I suspect a venous insufficiency where the veins are not able to take the blood back to heart. Second is the less common but lymph-edema which can be lymphatic drainage issue or secondary to some other problem.
A color doppler of the leg would ascertain the cause after proper examination by general surgeon or vascular surgeon.
