Question: My Sisters's baby was born on Sunday and today is the 5th day. Occasionally we see blood discharge coming from her urinary track. Is this common among newborns. Should we reach out to the hospital before the next follow-up?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

There is nothing to worry- this normal in new born girls.
this is from vagina, and not from urinary tract, and is due to hormonal change after birth.
If baby is otherwise active and feeding well, nothing to worry- stay relaxed.
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help
Dr Muhammed Aslam, Paediatrician.
Thanks.
