Shouldn’t I Continue Them Both I Have Been Taking Clindamycin?

Question: Hi there - I have a nasty red area on my left butt cheek. I have been taking clindamycin for the last 48 hours. It seems to be helping in some things - but not with my butt. The redness keeps spreading. I got bactrim prescribed to me today - but since it’s sat I got a different doctor who told me to stop taking the clindamycin. Why? Shouldn’t I continue them both - given that likely will take some time to get the bactrim into my system?
Brief Answer:
Regarding oral antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I too think Bactrim should be good enough for simple cutaneous infections. Clindamycin is effective too for skin infections but it is broad spectrum (includes anaerobic cover) and not needed for a skin infection.that most commonly is a staphylococcus aureus infection. If it is a deeper infection and likely to be a mixed infection one could consider a broad spectrum antibiotic or combine 2 antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
Thanks.
