Since A Week Before Thanksgiving I Have Had A Cramping

default
Posted on Sun, 26 Jan 2020
Question: Since a week before Thanksgiving I have had a cramping pain in my upper abdomen, above my belly button. I’ve also been nauseous and my appetite has been slim to none along with diarrhea for the entire period of time. It gradually got worse and I finally went to the ER on the 1st of the new year. When I mentioned I do smoke Marijuana, they said it is likely I have Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome and to wait another month to see if anything changes. Although I do believe that this could be my issue, I haven’t experienced vomiting and I haven’t been smoking for years as most people do with CHS (not that I feel it matters.) Today is day #5 since then and since I stopped smoking cannabis. I haven’t gotten any better and infact I feel worse than ever before. In the past week and a half I’ve lost almost 15lbs and eating is more of a task than ever before. There’s little to no information online on how to help myself and I feel like I’m at a loss. How would you recommend I go about treating myself?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
I dont think this is CHS. It is more likely to be related to stomach or galbladder or irritable bowel syndrome. However, this weight loss is worrisome and if condition persist, you should do some tests to rule out more serious issues.
It includes gastroscopy and abdominal ultrasound and microbiologic analysis of stool.
I suggest to have easier diet, avoid fried, fast, spicy food, have more fluids, menta tea, probiotics and vegetables, high fibre food.
You may take metoclopramide for nausea and loperamid for diarrheas if present, but it is btter to avoid medications.
Of course, you should avoid kannabis completely.
WIsh you good health. Regards

Thank you! I forgot to put this in my original question, but I’ve noticed the past two days when I eat or cough hard the pain in my stomach will get worse for about a minute or two. Is that something to be very concerned about?

Brief Answer:
no,probably GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
This is indicating GERD or hiatal hernia or simple gastritis. You should follow anti-acid diet and take ranitidine when you have such symptoms .
