Brief Answer:
You can wait for spontaneous recovery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service.

I can understand your problem. Due to some incident in the office, you have developed the symptoms of anxiety. You were otherwise doing good. If the problem at the office has been resolved then you can wait for some more days to see spontaneous remission of symptoms. In that case no need to start Venlafaxine. You can take Lorazepam on SOS basis.

But if you think the symptoms will persist and you are having impairment in functioning in office then you can restart the drug. No need to get worried. Just remain relaxed.

Thanks

Please let me know if you have anymore doubts.

Symptoms are making trouble to function properly in office ; so I feel medicine is required.
Venlafaxine or another antidepressants may be required.

Brief Answer:
Escitalopram can be started for anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Your main issue currently is anxiety along with depression symptoms. In that case if I was your psychiatrist I would have advised you to take any SSRI drug like Escitalopram. You can think of taking this drug in low dose of 5 mg per day and this can be increased to 10 mg after a week.

This will help to keep anxiety under control. Please talk with a doctor for this.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Maintenance treatment should be take for long periods of time.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Depressive disorders or any other mood disorders follow a chronic course. The symptoms occur in episodes and if the symptoms will relapse in a person or not can't be predicted. Various factors like genetics, environmental factors, psychological factors determine the relapse or remission.

Normally for a person with RDD or recurrent depressive disorders the maintenance treatment should be taken for period that varies between 6 months to 2 years after remission.

To reduce the symptoms medicinal treatment should be taken along with life style modifications.

The diet should be taken with high proteins and high complex carbohydrates and low in fats and refined carbs.

Diet should have high amounts of foods rich in vitamin b12 like animal foods milk, curd, cheese, eggs, meat etc.

Foods rich in Omega fatty acids like Salmon or Sardine fish, flex seeds, nuts like walnuts or XXXXXXX nuts etc. This will help to keep your mood better.

Exercise too has important roles in mood. Exercise daily for at least half to one hour daily. This should be mixture of cardio and weight training.

Listen good music in low volume daily and this will help in relaxation.

Improve your sleep habits. Avoid waking up late, early to bed and early rise is best for any person.

Avoid alcohol, tobacco completely.

This will help to prevent relapse of depression.

Thanks.

I hope this helps you, please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Brief Answer:
Wait with these drugs and if you feel better then no need to start Veniz

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

You can start the drug again and see if symptoms resolve. If you see improvement with medicine then please continue to take medicine for some more weeks on SOS basis.

Anxiety disorders have depression as co-morbid in most of cases. Veniz is an antidepressant though have some anti anxiety effects too.

The doctor has advised to take Propranolol and Clonazepam which helps to reduce the symptoms of anxiety.

Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

If you are not getting relief with Clonazepam and Propranolol then better to start Escitalopram and since your doctor advised, Desvenlafaxine.

I usually prefer to use one drug either SSRI or SNRI in normal cases. In some resistant cases two drugs are advised. The medicines will help to keep your anxiety under control.

Thanks
