Brief Answer:
Operation is needed in only 10% of patients.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted the clinical details, MRI report and doctor's prescription. The MRI report shows compression of nerves in the lower back, resulting in back pain and leg pain.

90% of patients get better without surgery. The treatment methods without surgery include:

1. Medications such as gabapentin or pregabalin, along with vitamin supplements,

2. Physiotherapy

3. Epidural injections at the lower back.

About 90% of patients get better with above three steps of treatment. the remaining 10% who do not get better need operation.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
