Question: Sir, my son is just 7 years old, suffering from hair whitening problem. I observed 2 or 3 white hairs on his middle of the scalp when he was 3 years old. I consultant with many doctors, everybody said it will not be increased. But, now he has got too many white hairs and spreading all over the scalp. I am really worried about this, pls advice what kind of treatment he need to get rid of this problem. Thank you.

Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

Premature greying of hair is a very resistant problem to treat.

I would recommend you get certain laboratory tests:
Hemoglobin, thyroid function tests, serum vitamin D levels, serum vitamin B12 levels, and iron studies as sometimes derangement of these are associated with premature greying of hair.

Meanwhile, give him tablet calcium pantothenate 200 mg ( tablet kerablak) half tablet once daily for at least 4 months.

Also give him a balanced diet rich in protein, fruits, and vegetables.

These measures will help in improving his condition.
