Question: Six weeks ago I developed symptoms diagnosed as epipdidymtis. Discomfort in testes, and occasional slight blood in urine, ocassional in semen. Visited MD, received antibiotic x 4 weeks and Flowmax... various ultrasound imaging looked fine... symptoms diminished and virtually disappeared last week, Rex finished 6 days ago... discomfort and some blood symptoms returned yesterday.

Brief Answer:
Prostatitis is likely and you might need antibiotics again

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome at "Ask a Doctor" service,

Very likely you are having prostatitis, an infection of the prostate. Prostatitis is more common in men older than 40 years of age, can cause genital pain and needs long treatment with antibiotics, 4-6 weeks.

Because symptoms are back it might be that the infection was not completely cured and is recurring. You will need to let your doctor know and if needed start treatment soon. Sometimes prostatitis might take longer to heal and probably the doctor will prescribe another long course if antibiotics. Your doctor might also order other tests and examinations to confirm the diagnosis.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
