
Smoker. Diagnosed With Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. Feeling Loss Of Appetite, Abdominal Pain. Worrisome

Question: HI! MY MOTHER IS 72 And has smoked most her life and still does.never was a drinker and was dianosed with primary billary cirrosses 16 years ago, for 2 months she has been so sick with loss of appitite, bright yellow stool, upper adominal pain, wanting to sleep all the time and lost 60 pounds. a ct showed a small mas on her pacreas and biopsys have been done and all show no cancer. what is going on then????? now she is running low grade fevers. totally lost control of her bowels. so weak because of lack of nutrition.?? From, sooo confused!!

Its possible that your mother's primary biliary cirrhosis has progressed significantly and these symptoms are due to the progression of this disease. A non-cancerous pancreatic lesion would not cause such symptoms. We would need to run a few tests including liver function tests, color Doppler for portal vein and sonography of liver to be sure of what is going on.
Its unlikely that the nutritional deficiencies are leading to such a problem. Please speak with your physician about this and get the tests done.
