Question: So I have a medium-size growth on my uvula. After a fair amount of research I have concluded that it is a PP benign growth. they seem to be extremely common but my issue is it%E2%80%99s making it difficult for me to swallow. I have messed around with it. There is no feeling in the growth and it is being held on by one very small piece of tissue. Is it okay for me to just cut it out?

Brief Answer:
You should get it surgically removed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. From the attached image, the small growth near the base of the uvula seems to be a benign wart-like growth.

2. Surgical removal is the treatment of choice if these growths are causing symptoms.

3. Avoid cutting the growth, on your own, even if it has a narrow stalk. The soft palate and uvula can swell considerably after handling during procedures. Swelling and inflammation in this area are very painful.

4. For surgical removal, a variety of instruments are available. Cautery, radiofrequency and co-ablation are safe and can also control bleeding.

5. HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) swabs can be done. These may be associated with such lesions.

I hope that I have answered your question.

If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards
