So My Doctor Finally Convinced Me To Take Blood Pressure

Question: So my doctor finally convinced me to take blood pressure meds.. intake 2.5 of generic norvasc.. my blood pressure has been good about 105/80. .. sometimes it goes down to 99/58 at night.. I am ok with taking it but when I exercise I get lots of skipped beats.. I have had them before but when I am on the elliptical it happens every 15-20 beats consistently .. do I really need to take this medicine? I only get high blood pressure when i get stressed .. I have a problem with anxiety sometimes and this covid is making me a little anxious.. but I do not want to create a worse problem with theaenskipped heartbeats! They make me feel real uncomfortable .. I am able to finish the workout and the skipped heartbeats seem to stop.. so I really neednmeds? I would never get the skipped heartbeats when exercising without the meds! Occasionally I would get anskipped heartbeat during the day but never consistently just every now and then.. please let me know what you think!

Hello
After going through the medical details provided by you i can understand your concern for your health and well being and i would like to tell you that if you are felling the ectopics or missed beats quite frequently then its important to get a Holter monitoring test done. It will calculate the percentage that how much ectopic activity is happening in 24 hours and will help to decide whether to start medication for it or not.
Regarding your BP medication, you need to monitor bp on regular basis and if it stays less than 120/80 mmHg then you can stop using medication after discussing this with your treating doctor and with his consent.
Kind Regards

Hello again
Detailed Answer:
2.5 mg is the minimum dose of this medication and it won’t cause any side effects. Also this medication doesn’t causes any missed beats.
To know whether it’s harmful or not first we need to know what sort of rhythm abnormality is going on, that’s why I suggested you to talk to your doctor for getting a holter test done.
Kind Regards

My blood pressure stays below 120/80 when I am on blood pressure meds of 2.5 norvasc ...sometimes really low of 99/58 .. most of the time it is 105/80...
My doctor says I can take it as
Needed.. have you heard of that before? I have been taking it once a day in the evening.. sometimes when I am ready for my next dose I take my bp and it is 100/64 ! I take the meds as the pharmacist told me but do I really need it ? If I don’t need it and I continue to take it ..’isnthar causing thenskipped heartbeats when exercising.. why am I getting them..are they dangerous thanks!

At 2.5 generic norvasc is it safe to disconinue the meds .. I have been taking it for 3 weeks or will I have side effects from

Have you ever prescibed to a patient to use as needed.. is that safe.. If I go off the meds to see where my blood pressure stays at ..at that level it should not cause any problem to stop right? My doc says I can use as needed but my regular doctor advises against that.. so I am not sure what to do Thanks so much!

hello again
Detailed Answer:
Yes, its safe to use that way as and when required, but you need to keep an eye by monitoring your bp regularly. If it goes beyond 130/80 mmHg then you need to start the medicine and if it goes below 100/60 then you should avoid taking it.
This medication do not causes skip beats.
You need to get a Holter test done.
