Some Back Ground: I Am 64 Year Old Woman. I

Question: Some back ground:
i am 64 year old woman. I measure 1.60. And weigh 55 kg. On 2 occasion I had colonoscopy and endoscopy. Last one was couple years ego. Colonoscopy was good. Both Endoscopy 4 year apart indicated I have a gastritis. For this I was given somac and I was asked to take only when needed.
Other condition I have not often but occasional is irregular heart beat. I get at times AF plus and occasional extra heart beat.
I had echocardiogram and stress test 7 months ego all was normal!
In addition with somac (which I do not take regularly) at the moment these are the list of medications I am taking: carbimazole 5mg for over active thyroid
Crestor 10mg for high cholesterol.
Aspirin
Also some supplements: taurine 500
Magnesium
My recent blood test all normal except last few test shows slight drop in white cell count. My General Practitioner feels this might be caused by carbimazole .
My diet I thought was pretty good: I do not drink alcohol, do not smoke, cut my sugar intake. Morning I am having smoothies with banana almond milk some berries and honey.
Around 1 or 2 I have lunch consisting of vegetables, steak or fish or chicken. Later on i have a yogurt with fruits. And I try to not eat after 6 as I do not feel well when I eat close to bed time. I do not exercise but most day I manage half an hour walk.
The reason of this consultation:
Occasionally and it is happening at the moment: my stomach goes very bad. Bloated, pressure upper stomach with sometimes a bit of pain, Feeling full, feeling of gas not be able to come out, these are associated with constipation, coated tongue, not at the moment but before it got this bad, I was having also occasional bad test in my mouth.
My questions:
Are these associated with gastritis?
Should I take somac regularly?
Is any group of food I should eliminate completely from my diet because of gastritis ?
My general practitioner and the doctor performed endoscopy they both concluded the reason for my gastritis was acid reflux. As after few years this is still not resolved, could it be this for any other reason for the gastritis? What are potential test I need to do to have a clearer answers?
When stomach this bad, should I fast and not eat for day?
While like this can I keep drinking for hydration reason? What kind of drink can I have?
Gastritis or any of these condition could be associated with food intolerance, although I have never been diagnosed with any food intolerance before?
should I consult with a nutritionist or a dietitian?
Should I move and walk while like this or do I need to rest?
Please include any other information you feel I need to know to be able to get better.
Thank you so much for your time and help.

Hi,
Thanks for choosing Ask a Doctor for your query,
Have seen your details and answers are-
My recent blood test all normal except last few test shows slight drop in white cell count. My General Practitioner feels this might be caused by carbimazole -Anti epileptics may slightly alter the TLC count in most of the patient ,He is right.
Are these associated with gastritis?-Not only gastritis but is associated with a disturbed digestive system. When food reaches your gut it is acted upon by billions of good bacterias but due to gastritis effect of medicines and food habits this normal gut flora is disturbed and colonies of bad bacterias are formed which ferments the food releasing large amount of gases these gases exerts pressure on surrounding nerves and may cause pain and other digestive issues...coated tongue itself is suggestive of poor digestion
Should I take somac regularly?-If gastritis is not under control you can take it regularly. Asprin itself causes severe acidity so you should take an antacid as you are taking other medicines also.
Is any group of food I should eliminate completely from my diet because of gastritis ?-Fast food,Oily food,Tobacco in any form,Alcohol,Citic fruits.
My general practitioner and the doctor performed endoscopy they both concluded the reason for my gastritis was acid reflux. As after few years this is still not resolved, could it be this for any other reason for the gastritis? What are potential test I need to do to have a clearer answers?-There is no cure of gastritis or acid peptic disorder. Our aim is to control symptoms of patients and is possible in almost all patient(by only life style modifications or with supportive medications ....This may vary from case to case). You should take medicines regularly and once symptoms are in control taper off the medicine to minimum possible effective dose.
When stomach this bad, should I fast and not eat for day?Fasting would worsen acidity.Take your tablet and after that have proper diet.
While like this can I keep drinking for hydration reason? What kind of drink can I have?-Water,Cold milk,Coconut water .Avoid any packed drink or manufactured drink.
Gastritis or any of these condition could be associated with food intolerance, although I have never been diagnosed with any food intolerance before? -This is a grey area no one knows why this happens every patient has a different cause so focus on treatment.
should I consult with a nutritionist or a dietitian?-No need just eat home cooked clean food avoid junk oily food, Start medicine and add probiotic like VSL#3 twice daily, Soon you would start feeling much better.
Should I move and walk while like this or do I need to rest?-Once you start feeling better do yoga brisk walking...Why rest? 8 hour of sleep a day is enough,
Hope i was helpful,
Follow ups are welcome.
Thanks!!
