Question: Started passing bright red blood with bowel movements 2 days ago with no pain . Have some lower back pain today . Your thoughts ?

Hi Mshepherd1967,

What you describe sounds like a hemorroidal bleeding. Completely harmless. If you do not have symptoms of anemia (dizziness, pallor, low urine production, extreme tiredness) you can just wait it out. If you have not recently had a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy I suggest you get an appointment for one. Right now all you have to do is try to keep your stools soft and drink plenty of fluid.
