Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I am Dr Vaishalee, MD Pharmacology and I have been assigned your query.
I have read your query and here is what I think.
Prolonged use of medicines including antibiotics and steroids can cause side effects. When new symptoms start during medicine use, they are many times caused by it. If the symptom started due to the medicine, it will most probably resolve in few weeks after that medicine is stopped. If the symptom just happened to have occurred during use of medicine (but not related to medicine), then it requires intervention by physician.
Augmentin is one of the safest antibiotics available. Sometimes it may cause problems.
Pain around kidney could mean that kidneys got affected due to medicine use. We cannot come to a conclusion by just listening to symptoms. To find exact diagnosis, I will suggest that you get complete urinalysis done. Kidney function test and ultrasound of kidney ureter bladder may also be needed. You must drink lots of clean water including two glasses in morning and two glasses in evening.
You seem to have gotten better after Cravit use, so infection also had some role to play. Urine culture and sensitivity is the best test to find any urinary tract infection and effective antibiotics.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
