Starting The Evening Of 9/11, I Began Having Some Flu-like
Question: Starting the evening of 9/11, I began having some flu-like symptoms. Started with a backache, and then I developed a headache, a fever of 101.7, nausea, and liquid diarrhea. Almost exactly 24 hours later, all of my symptoms went away except for the diarrhea, which has started to become more and more red as the day has progressed (it started out as small streaks of blood but it is currently a solid XXXXXXX red color) and is accompanied by abdominal cramping that only occurs right before I need to use the restroom. My abdomen is tender and my temperature is currently 97.4. I've taken three doses of Pepto-Bismol specifically for diarrhea, each an hour apart. What is wrong?
Brief Answer:
Gastrointestinal viral infection possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think it can be a gastrointestinal viral infection which has caused the symptoms of diarrhea, nausea vomiting and headache.
Using Pepto-Bismol may have made your stools look red and you don't have to worry about it.
Your fever is getting back to normal and stools are getting harder and this means that you are getting better and infection is getting cleared.
You should keep yourself hydrated having lots of fluids and water. Don't have much fruit juices.
Hope I have answered the question.
