Suddenly I Could Not See Well Out Of My Left Eye I Took My BP And It's 140/74 (pretty Good For Me). I'm Taking Lisinopril 10 Mg Daily In The Pm, Have Not Missed Any Doses. Is This Something I Need To Be Worried?

Question: HI Dr Rynne, I was pulling some weeds in my garden and noticed I could not see well out of my left eye (blurry like looking through a fish bowl) and was also lightheaded. Thought it must be high BP. I took my BP and it's 140/74 (pretty good for me). I'm taking Lisinopril 10 mg daily in the pm, have not missed any doses. Is this something I need to see a dr or go to ER to have a checked. Feeling a bit better right now. Thanks, Gwtneth McPherson
Brief Answer:
Go to Er and get a CT Scan Head.
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Both these signs i.e. blurring of vision and lightheartedness , in a hypertensive patient ,are not to be taken lightly. These may be early signs of brain ischemia or infarct or bleeding.
I suggest visit to ER ASAP. Even if nothing serious is there , I would get a CT Head first. Having a normal blood pressure at present is good but does not rule out any problem.
Thanks .
