Question: MY DAUGHTER AGED 12 YRS HAD ANATTACK OF DENGUE ON 24.10.12 HER TEMPERATURE IS ABSENT FROM 30.10.12. HOWEVER HER SGPT TEST SHOWS 69U/L IN REF RANGE OF7-41U/L WHAT FOODS SHOULD BE AVOIDED AND WHAT SHOULD BE HER DIET

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It is very common to find elevated liver enzymes in patients of dengue fever.
These enzymes normally peak on 9th day of dengue fever and become normal by 15 to 20 days.
Just give normal diet to her and avoid greasy foods for another 2 to 3 weeks.
Give her plenty of water,fruit and fruit juices which are easy and gentle on stomach.
Give home cooked food and avoid outside food.
Take care of her hygiene and make it a point to keep her away from any person who is suffering from any infection,since she is liable to catch infection fast as her immunity would be low at the moment.
Give her vitamin preparations as advised by your doctor.
