Question: Is there a healthier alternative to suggest instead of taking Lorazepam? My son has anxiety problems and has been subscribed so many drugs over the years that It truly concerns me. His quality of life is not what it should be at this time. He has a hard time getting sleep and ends up being exhausted for half the day. He requires a lot of rest. He is not manic but suffers from anxiety, depression and fatigue. Please help. Concerned Mother.

Brief Answer:
My suggestion.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I can suggest you start him on antidepressants like Escitalopram, as he has both anxiety and depression.

It must be combined with clonazepam to combat his anxiety and sleep disturbances.

Anyway, lorazepam also helps, but it is short acting, so you need to take more tablets with in a day unlike clonazepam, one tablet is enough.

It would be better if he can perform some physical exercise and meditation along with this.

I would suggest you discuss with your treating doctor regarding this and follow accordingly.

Hope this information would help you.
