Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that you can make those changes to your actual therapy, but with caution.

You should know that losartan is the same class of drugs (ARB class) just like telmisartan, which is contained in Micardis HCT, but with a different power in reducing high blood pressure.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and is a different class of drugs than hydroclorthiazide (also contained in Micardis HCT).

I would recommend starting losartan 100 twice daily and amlodipine 5mg 1 tab ne day.

I recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure during the first week after changing the therapy.

If your blood pressure is not controlled with the new therapy, you should discuss with your doctor on further changes to the doses.

I recommend performing kidney and liver function tests, fasting glucose and blood electrolytes after the first week on the new therapy.

If you have any cardiac failure symptoms, a diuretic (like hydroclorthiazide) may be needed.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
