Suggest Alternative Anti-allergic Medication
Brief Answer:
hydrocodone, oxycodone
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
It sort of depends upon what you allergic reaction is. If it is nausea and vomiting then that is an intolerance and not really an allergy. Codeine is in the same class of drugs (opiates) as hydrocodone and oxycodone (or oxycontin) but many people can tolerate hydrocodone or oxycodone that can not tolerate codeine. Any of the narcotics may cause some nausea. If your allergy was more severe like an anaphylatic reaction, then your doctors will need to be careful with giving you any opiate.
To answer your question above oxycontin is not a form of codeine. They are both narcotic or opiates but are different compounds.
